Listening Room – “That Certain Feeling”

Big John Patton released “That Certain Feeling” on Blue Note in 1968.  The groove is dialed down just a bit compared to some of Patton’s better known albums from a few years before, but the groove is still in the cut in the way that it seems only Patton could make it.  Never released on CD in the U.S., the album was included as part of the spectacular “Mosaic Select: John Patton” set released in 2003.

  1. Great post. One of the unsung musical geniuses of jazz. This is also available on the superb 3 CD set from Mosaic Select

  2. I saved up pop-bottle money and talked my older brother, who introduced me to B3 jazz with Lou Donaldson and Jack McDuff, into going half. When he went to college, the album went with him.
