In 2000, saxophonist Cory Weeds purchased the Cellar Restaurant and Jazz Club in Vancouver and soon started up the Cellar Live Records label. In 2008 he released his own album, putting together a fantastic quartet comprised of three legendary New York City jazz veterans. All the music (including six Weeds originals) swings in the hard bop vein and all the players are in top form throughout. Both the label and it’s founder are poised to become major players in the jazz world in the years to come.
