Some newer stuff for you, “Present Tense” by James Carter was released in 2008 on the Universal Jazz label. It’s a great overview of the many talents of Carter, who spans the jazz map for his compositions on this record. It was produced by Michael Cuscuna, the man responsible for releasing many treasured jazz recordings from the vaults of Blue Note as well as the co-founder of Mosaic Records, the outstanding record label that issues limited edition jazz reissue sets.
