From “Another Earth” : 1968 : Milestone M-9018

This 1968 Milestone album finds Gary Bartz fronting a great band that included Pharoah Sanders, Charles Tolliver and Stanley Cowell. The music is adventurous without being unfocused. The title track is a suite of sorts and took up all of Side One on the original LP and clocks in at an impressive 24 minutes. [Note: This album can be found on CD as a two-fer with Bartz's "Libra" album.]

This 2008 album was recorded live at the NYC jazz club The Iridium and serves as Kenny Garrett’s debut album on the superb Mack Avenue Records. Garrett’s quartet is joined by the legendary Pharoah Sanders, giving the set an extra burst of energy. The recording consists of five Garrett originals, all of which are over nine minutes long, and one can feel the shared joy of the musical experience between the band members and the audience.
