New Gil Scott-Heron
Me and The Devil is the first single off Gil Scott-Heron's new album "I'm New Here". It's his first record in 13 years and I'm really digging what I've heard so far. Nice article about him and the record in The Village Voice here.
Dexter Gordon – “What’s New”
This amazing performance by Dexter was filmed in Holland in 1964 and is available as part of the Jazz Icons series. Players are Dexter Gordon on Tenor, George Gruntz on Piano, Guy Pedersen on Bass and Daniel Humair on the Drums.
Woody Shaw & Johnny Griffin – “A Night in Tunisia”
Recorded in Koln, Germany in 1986. Woody Shaw on trumpet, Johnny Griffin on Tenor, John Hicks on Piano, Reggie Johnson on the bass and Alvin Queen on drums. Griffin - "The Little Giant" - absolutely tears it up, showing that he hadn't lost a step since his early days and Shaw is cookin' right along side him!
John Coltrane “My Favorite Things” – 1965
The John Coltrane Quartet (Coltrane on Soprano Sax, McCoy Tyner on Piano, Jimmy Garrison on Bass and Elvin Jones on the Drums) live in Belgium in 1965. The music more than speaks for itself.

Great footage of The Charles Tolliver Big Band performing his compostition "Ruthie's Heart" in 2004 at the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland.
Dizzy Gillespie & Stan Getz – 1979
Dizzy Gillespie and Stan Getz performing It Don't Mean a Thing in 1979 at the Nice Jazz Festival. They are joined by Arnie Lawrence on the Alto Sax, John Lewis on the Piano, George Duvivier on Bass and Shelly Manne on the Drums. Fantastic music from some legendary players !!!
Return To Forever – Space Circus
This early edition of Return to Forever was Chick Corea on the keys, Stanley Clarke on bass, Bill Connors on guitar and the amazing Lenny White on drums.
Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers – 1958
Fantastic footage of the 1958 version of the Jazz Messengers performing "I Remember Clifford". Players are Lee Morgan (tp), Benny Golson (sax), Bobby Timmons (p), Jymie Merritt (b) and Art Blakey (d). This might be the most well known version of the group as it is the lineup that appeared on the classic "Moanin'" released this same year.
